Show: Stick It! Local Artists Take on Garbage Pail Kids, featuring the work of Ashley Laufer, Dave Savage, Neil Devlin, Seth Goodkind, and more
Venue: Ballyhoo Curiosity Shop / 5445 Ballard Ave NW
Event: March 16th 6pm - 9pm www.facebook.com/events/1707564469547776/
Show Dates: March 16th - April 19th
The controversy surrounding the Garbage Pail Kids trading cards in the 1980s may have been short lived, but their long term impact on pop culture remains.
In this group show, local Seattle area artists regurgitate their own impressions of the Kids, in their own style, with their own agenda.
Opens March 16th as part of Ballard Art Walk and runs through April 19th.
Curated by Push/Pull
The Garbage Pail Kids sticker cards, originally a parody of the then popular line of children's dolls Cabbage Patch Kids, developed from a long tradition of "gross" character illustrations from the likes of Basil Wolverton in the 1960's.
The Garbage Pail Kids became so popular in the 80's that they were banned in many public schools, a feature film was made (and panned) and the cards were translated and produced all over the world from Finland to Argentina to Japan. They continue to be produced by parent company Topps inc, and remain as popular, and irreverent, as ever.

Join us for the opening of Yes, No, Maybe?
an art show for hopeless romantics, idyllic lovers, mushy crushers, and amorous dreamers
Your gawky tortured teenage heart will swoon for our visual stories of infatuation at Yes, No, Maybe?
We celebrate the proverbial durability of first loves with featured pieces by Dillon Lacey and ♥ art by selected artists.
We will have a few select pieces from Dillon Lacey. Other artists were all given the same heart canvases and a description of the theme. What art will romance inspire?
